Colleagues actively support social projects - just like that, free of charge, with fun.

In December, LE in Munich called for support for an SOS Children's Villages project in Gambia. In the economic center of this West African country, life is dominated by the region's largest landfill - with enormous health hazards for the local inhabitants. An improvement of the situation is urgently needed. SOS Children's Villages is addressing this challenge locally by providing care and education. Food for local families in need

At Selas-Linde in North America, employees organize fundraising and aid programs with an employee-founded Events Committee. Every year they set up collection areas and e-mail timelines to the Blue Bell Office employees requesting donations. Last year, these donations went to the Montgomery County Human Services Center (MCHSC), that helps local families in need. As Veronica Hilghman from MCHSC reports, the organization was able to deliver 354 Thanksgiving meal boxes to local families, including all the trimmings and a coupon for a turkey. Hilghman said: “I wish to express to you how grateful everyone who received one of these meal boxes was, and how many times I was asked to pass along that gratitude to those who made it possible.”

Linde employees "plunge" for a cause

Members of Team Linde jumped into the icy cold waters of Woodlawn Beach State Park at the annual Polar Plunge. Through a generous donation made by the Linde Global Giving program, donations from the LTC Charity Bar and employee fundraising efforts, a significant amount of money was collected for Special Olympics New York. Altogether, more than 285.000 € was raised by Buffalo jumpers for this organization as part of this year’s event. If you’d like to see what a Polar Plunge looks like, click here.
“I’m happy to report that the team managed to survive the Plunge,” said Scott Strang, associate IT director and Team Linde volunteer coordinator. “We were a small but enthusiastic team! All our team members were good sports about making the plunge! It was a great experience to be a part of.”

Collecting points with and for a good cause

Following the “No-Shave-November“ campaign of the previous year, the Equipment, Process Design and Computational Mechanics team wanted to give their female colleagues the chance to take active part in something, too. They came up with their new November Challenge with the following criteria:

All participants are divided up into small teams, each team has to solve small tasks in different areas, the team gets points for every task solved and the more points a team collects, the more success. With these criteria in mind, the group came up with tasks as bake a cake (and bring it to the office), climb a mountain, jump into outdoor water, make a team member happy, collect trash outside, give up meat for two weeks or have lunch with an unknown colleague. The response in the department was great and the motivation impressed everyone.

"Proof" pictures were posted via a WhatsApp group, which kept motivation high. The money that was raised was donated to two smaller local organizations: KulturWunschBaum and Willkommen im Herzen der Stadt München - Bellevue di Monaco.
